Help with kidney transplant (Case No. 308) Copy Link

My name is Onyinye, a 27-year-old young lady and I am currently on dialysis at LUTH Idiaraba. I was diagnosed of end stage renal failure on the month of April 2022 at navy hospital Satellite Town but was later sent to LUTH after a failed lungs/pulmonary edema. Since then, my life has been a story of one pain to another. I had a good job but was laid off due to this illness. I have prayed, fasted, changed my diet, kept a positive attitude, but no changes. I was told that both kidneys shrunk to a small size, and I would need a new kidney in order to survive. I have spent a lot on dialysis, food and medicine. I grow weaker each day after dialysis, and it is taking a toll on my family. I want to live but have forgotten what it feels like to be healthy. Please help save me from this overwhelming condition that requires weekly dialysis which has taken everything from my family. I am mentally, physically and financially drained and exhausted, and the economic system of the country has made it even worse. I have lost everything and need a second chance at life. Please help me and my family, as this is way beyond what we can handle on our own. It is not possible for me to survive this without outside help. I intend on doing the surgery in Nigeria either at FMC or Zenith medicals. I will also need to pay for a year supply of immunosuppressant drugs and also a donor as none of my siblings are a match. You can reach out to the renal clinic at LUTH to confirm about Onyinye. Please help me. This is a cry for help indeed.

I have experienced a number of emergencies, which were not fun at all. The experience is painful and they are financially draining too. The drugs, the consultation with specialists, the oxygen and several other requirements make emergencies a nightmare. Not just with the experience, but with the expenses that come with it. The weekly dialysis takes away your strength, making the aftermath somewhat unbearable.

Its a horrible experience when I have a medical emergency. My kidney doesn't work, and it's the kidney that's supposed to tell the heart to produce more red blood cells, so since red blood cells production is hindered by the disfunctioning kidney, I am constantly anaemic, and once I am short of blood, then I'll need blood transfusion, requiring several pints of blood, and then I'll have to be on oxygen.
