Fundraising Suggestions

Achieving success with your fundraiser required a deliberate and well thought out plan. No fundraiser succeeds just because it was created; if you want your fundraiser to succeed, then you must be consistent in promoting it by every means possible. There are four (4) key elements of your fundraising page, and you must be deliberate with these four (4) elements, as they are what would arouse the emotions and interests of your potential donors. These includes your Title, Story, Pictures and Videos. If you truly want people to be drawn to your fundraiser, you must be deliberate with these.

Here are a number of suggestions on how to make your fundraiser a success:

  1. Tell a compelling story and use a compelling title. Your title must convey your need and situation in a precise manner. Your story must be emotive; telling your situation; showing your pain and expressing your need. Your pictures and videos must show the situation in its severity and process. Be specific about how much money is required, what the money will be used for, how the money will be dispensed and the impact the financial support will have on the life of the beneficiary.
  2. Don't count on just strangers for support; promote 'like-crazy'. Use friends and caring relations, and target people-concentrated areas and events. Use flyers or paper cuts and social media campaigns.
  3. Advertise appropriately and aggressively, use social networks and post e-invites.
  4. Make a list of the items that require funding if you can and state the exact amounts needed for each item. People can more easily offer their support when it is clear exactly what their support would achieve. Stating that a particular procedure is required and stating the cost will allow supporters know how much their support can truly offset.
  5. Also enhance your online efforts with physical events and 'get-togethers' toward your fundraising cause.
  6. Make use of every opportunity to sensitize people to support your fundraiser. Get friends and friends' networks to join in promoting and emphasizing your cause.
  7. Planning is important. List out all the possible avenues to reach people; all social media groups you and your friends are involved with including physical groups like: church, school, associations/clubs etc. You never know where support can come from. Make sure to plan how to reach out to each group; by distributing flyers, making an announcement, getting a respected personality to address the group etc.
  8. Create a Facebook page, Twitter handle, Whatsapp and Telegram groups etc. to evoke engagement and support.
  9. Do not underestimate the value of videos; they are an attractive, versatile, and extremely shareable medium to reach your audience. YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, Vimeo, and even Facebook Live have become a staple of our everyday lives, and they have the capacity to go beyond your expected reach. Use them creatively to share your message and to help your cause go viral.
  10. When you get supporters, ensure to keep them updated with every step of the process. If they support your cause, be sure they would love to know the details of your progress. So, from the case updates section of your dashboard, send relevant updates; tell them what happened and what is happening; upload pictures and videos, and make them feel a part of your journey, and they would feel responsible for promoting your cause.

Basically, fundraising requires some level of creativity and pushing your limits. If you are passionate about the cause you will possibly compel supporters to share in your passion and advance the cause.
